Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Ukoha Njoku, has dismissed reports claiming the governor’s convoy was attacked by gunmen on Tuesday.

In a statement, Njoku clarified that the governor was not involved in any security incident, but confirmed that an advance team of three personnel from the Government House, Umuahia, was attacked by unidentified gunmen. The team was reportedly travelling between Umuowa and Ihitte junction in Imo State while heading to the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri.

He said no life was lost in the attack and stressed that Governor Otti’s convoy was not part of the incident.

“The general public is hereby informed that the convoy of Governor Otti was not involved in this attack, and no lives were lost during the unfortunate incident,” the statement added.
