Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is considering the Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as possible platforms for the 2026 governorship election after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), SaharaReporters has learnt.

Political stakeholders said Adeleke’s exit from the PDP amid prolonged national leadership crises has created fresh uncertainty around his re-election bid. They noted that the division within the PDP that led to his departure could weaken his campaign structure and support base.

Sources also disclosed that Adeleke is unlikely to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), as he neither obtained nor submitted the party’s nomination form before the December 1 deadline. An APC chieftain told SaharaReporters that this effectively ruled him out of consideration as the party’s candidate.

Further findings revealed that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has already chosen former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, as its consensus candidate, making the ADC an unlikely option for the governor.

Stakeholders also pointed to the influence of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, a close ally of Adeleke. They noted that both men distanced themselves from the recent PDP convention in Oyo State, further signalling Adeleke’s political direction. Saraki has also publicly dissociated himself from the ADC, despite rumours linking him to the party.

Meanwhile, Accord Party Chairman Victor Akande said the party would gladly receive Adeleke if he chose to join, noting that its doors remain open to all interested aspirants.

Adeleke resigned from the PDP in a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the party chairman of Ward 2 in Ede North Local Government Area. He attributed his decision to the ongoing crisis within the party’s national leadership and thanked the PDP for the platform on which he was elected senator and later governor.
