Senegal secured a hard-earned 1–0 victory over Egypt in their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final, with captain Sadio Mané scoring the decisive goal late in the second half to send the Teranga Lions into the final.

The much-anticipated clash between two African heavyweights was played at a high tactical level, with both teams showing caution in the opening exchanges. Senegal enjoyed more possession and pushed higher up the pitch, while Egypt remained organised, disciplined, and dangerous on the counter.

Senegal were dealt an early blow in the first half when defensive leader Kalidou Koulibaly was forced off through injury, disrupting their defensive structure and handing Egypt a psychological boost. Despite the setback, Senegal adjusted well, maintaining their shape and keeping Egypt’s attackers largely at bay. The first half ended goalless, with chances few and far between.

After the restart, Senegal increased the tempo and pressed with greater intent. Egypt continued to resist, but the breakthrough finally came in the 77th minute. Mané, once again delivering on the biggest stage, reacted quickest to a loose ball in the area and calmly fired past the Egyptian goalkeeper to break the deadlock.
Egypt threw men forward in the closing stages in search of an equaliser, but Senegal defended with composure and collective discipline to protect their slender lead.

At the final whistle, Mané’s late goal proved decisive, sealing a memorable win for Senegal and moving them one step closer to AFCON glory, while Egypt bowed out after another closely fought semi-final battle.

Next at 9pm would be Host Morocco taking on Nigeria for the second spot in the finals, while the loser will face Egypt in the third place match.
