Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi is set to receive N895 million in allowances for the 2026 fiscal year, according to details from the state’s budget.
A review of the 2026 budget document by SaharaReporters also revealed that N115 million was approved for “members’ recess allowance.”
The budget further allocates N50 million for the construction of a laundry facility at the Government House. This follows the 2025 fiscal year, where N800 million was budgeted for the construction and furnishing of the Presidential Wing of the Government House—N500 million for construction and N300 million for furnishing.
An earlier review of the 2025 budget performance, covering January to September, showed that the Government House spent N437 million on vehicles within three months, contributing to a total of N672 million spent on vehicles for the governor’s office during that period. The expenditure includes the purchase of two 2025 model Toyota Hiace buses, one 2025 Land Cruiser, and an armored 2025 Lexus, although the government has denied acquiring new vehicles, claiming the governor uses older vehicles left by his predecessor.
Sources close to the Government House alleged that the costs for the vehicles were inflated and that the procurement process was irregular.
The budget performance document separately details allocations for the deputy governor and other offices, highlighting significant spending at the governor’s office compared with other state offices.
