Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring a free and fair governorship election held in the state on November 8, 2025.
Soludo, who was re-elected alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, expressed his gratitude to the President during his acceptance speech on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the poll.
“With a sense of gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief, I thank President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being a very true democrat,” Soludo said. “He has demonstrated firm commitment to guaranteeing a free and fair election.”
The governor also praised the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, describing the exercise as the most credible and transparent election ever conducted in Anambra since the introduction of electoral technology.
“This is your first outing, and I am impressed that your first impression is emphatic INEC delivered,” he stated.
Soludo said the election outcome reflected the will of the people and recorded one of the highest voter participation rates in the state’s recent political history.
“I just came out to say thank you to Ndi Anambra. This is a moment of celebration you have spoken,” he said. “Four years ago, you elected us with about 112,000 votes; this time, you spoke even louder. This victory is history made.”
According to him, about 22 percent of registered voters participated in the poll an unprecedented figure for the state. He noted that his re-election marks only the third time an incumbent governor has been returned to office in Anambra since 1999, adding that he won with 73 percent of the votes cast.
