The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has described Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State as one of the most transparent and well-organised polls in the state’s history.

Ezeokenwa, who spoke in Awka on Sunday while reacting to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he termed a free, credible, and peaceful election.

He said the November 8 poll reflected the will of the people and marked a new benchmark for electoral integrity in the state.

“I sincerely commend INEC for ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process,” Ezeokenwa said. “Anambra has never witnessed an election conducted with this level of organisation and credibility.”

According to official results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Governor Soludo of APGA secured 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes.

Ezeokenwa also appreciated residents of Anambra for their peaceful conduct before, during, and after the polls, as well as the media for their professionalism in covering the exercise.

“I thank the people of Anambra for maintaining peace and order throughout the election period and the media for upholding journalistic ethics in their reportage,” he added.

He said the outcome of the election reaffirmed the confidence of the people in Governor Soludo’s leadership and the APGA government in the state.

INEC had earlier declared Soludo winner of the November 8 governorship election following the conclusion of collation in all 21 local government areas of the state.
