The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election, describing his victory as a “landslide.”
Governor Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election after sweeping all 21 local government areas of the state in what observers described as a peaceful poll.
Reacting to the outcome in a post on her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Ojukwu thanked the people of Anambra for their support and faith in the APGA administration.
“IT’S OFFICIAL! APGA wins in ALL the 21 Local Governments of Anambra State. It’s a LANDSLIDE! Thank you, good people of Anambra, for keeping the faith! Congratulations, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Solution Governor. One good term deserves another! God of Moses! May Your name be praised forevermore!” she wrote.
The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Omoregie Edoba, announced the result at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Awka early Sunday.
Soludo polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes, while George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) and John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 10,576 and 8,208 votes respectively. Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 1,401 votes.
Prof. Edoba declared Soludo duly elected, having met all legal requirements.
