Access Holdings Plc has announced the resignation of Mr. Roosevelt Ogbonna as a Non-Executive Director of its Board after three and a half years of service.

The company disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, noting that Ogbonna will remain the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, its flagship subsidiary.

According to the statement, the decision aligns with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines for Financial Holding Companies (2023), which restrict board membership to nine directors.

“The board appreciates Mr. Ogbonna for his outstanding and continued contributions to the Access Group,” the company stated.

Ogbonna, who became CEO of Access Bank in May 2022, has worked in the institution since 2002 after leaving Guaranty Trust Bank. He previously served as Deputy Managing Director (2017–2022) and Executive Director (2013–2017).

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a CFA charter holder, Ogbonna holds advanced degrees from IMD Business School, King’s College London, and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, among others.

He also serves on the boards of Access Bank’s UK and South African subsidiaries, as well as the Africa Finance Corporation and CSCS Plc.

As of August 2025, the Board of Access Holdings is chaired by Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, with Bolaji Olaitan Agbede as Acting Group CEO, and Lanre Bamisebi as Executive Director. Independent non-executive directors include Abubakar Aribidesi Jimoh, Fatimah Bintah Bello-Ismail, and Ibironke Adeyemi. Other members are Ojinika Nkechinyelu Olaghere and Olusegun Babalola Ogbonnewo.

The company stressed that Ogbonna’s resignation underscores its commitment to regulatory compliance while he continues to steer Access Bank’s growth and strategy.
