The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a 33-year-old man, his wife, and their daughter at Filin Canada Quarters in Katsina metropolis.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday when armed men stormed the residence of the victim, Anas Ahmadu, and took him away along with his wife and daughter, identified as Jidda Anas.
Aliyu disclosed that the attackers shot and killed a 25-year-old vigilante, Abdullahi Muhammad, before fleeing with the abducted family.
“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO quickly rushed to the scene, restoring normalcy in the area as investigation commenced with a view to tracking and arresting the perpetrators,” Aliyu said in a statement.
He added that Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, had visited the scene with senior officers for an on-the-spot assessment and ordered the deployment of additional personnel and assets to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
The police appealed to residents to support security agencies with credible information to aid the investigation, assuring that all reports would be treated confidentially.
