President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the renowned Bauchi-based Islamic cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who died on Thursday.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Sheikh Bauchi as a moral guide whose life was dedicated to teaching, preaching, and promoting peace. He noted that the cleric’s death is a significant loss not only to his family and followers but also to the nation as a whole.

President Tinubu recalled the personal guidance and support he received from Sheikh Bauchi during the 2023 elections. “Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a teacher, a father, and a voice of moderation and reason. As both a preacher and a notable exegete of the Holy Quran, he was an advocate of peace and piety. His death has created a huge void,” the President said.

Condoling with the Sheikh’s followers across Nigeria and beyond, Tinubu urged them to honour his legacy by practicing peaceful coexistence, strengthening their relationship with God, and showing kindness to others. Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, widely respected for his scholarship and promotion of moderation, leaves behind a lasting legacy in religious education and community leadership.
