Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is safe and has departed Guinea-Bissau following recent political developments in the West African nation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed Jonathan’s departure in an interview with journalists in Abuja, noting that he left the country aboard a special flight with members of his delegation, including senior diplomat Ibn Chambas.
Jonathan had been in Guinea-Bissau on a regional assignment before the unfolding situation prompted his early exit. Ebienfa assured that the former president remains safe.
