The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has neutralised several members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and bandits in precision airstrikes conducted across Borno, Kwara, and Katsina states.
The operations on November 9 targeted ISWAP positions in Mallam Fatori and Shuwaram, Borno State, and destroyed bandit hideouts in Garin Dandi and Chigogo, Kwara State, as well as Zango Hill in Kankara, Katsina State.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the strikes were part of ongoing joint operations under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation FANSAN YAMMA to degrade terrorist and criminal networks in Nigeria’s northern regions.
“In Borno, NAF air interdiction missions destroyed insurgent hideouts, logistics hubs, and weapons stores, eliminating several terrorists and crippling their mobility,” Ejodame said. He added that the precision strikes in Kwara and Katsina also inflicted heavy losses on bandit and terrorist networks.
NAF said the success of the operations reflects a renewed operational tempo following directives from the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, who recently urged air component commanders to “fly smarter and strike harder.”
The air force emphasised that the missions, guided by real-time intelligence, showcase its commitment to targeted, intelligence-driven airpower while protecting civilians and enhancing national security.
The operations follow President Bola Tinubu’s pledge to intensify the fight against terrorism and criminality, after international concern over attacks by insurgents in Nigeria.
