Afrobeats star Davido and his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, have been featured in Vogue magazine following their lavish “white wedding” in Miami this August, a ceremony that fused Nigerian traditions with international flair.
The couple, who first met in 2013 at Babcock University, had earlier held a traditional wedding in Lagos before celebrating with 1,500 guests in Miami. The event was styled under the creative direction of Davido’s sister, Sharon Ademefun.
Chioma wore a custom gown by British-Nigerian designer Alonuko, while Davido appeared in a brown Tom Ford suit, accessorised with diamonds from his personal collection. Both incorporated tributes to their late son, Ifeanyi, into the ceremony.
The reception featured live performances from Afrobeats stars D’Banj and Adekunle Gold, as well as Chioma’s multiple outfit changes and a Latin-inspired Hora Loca party.
Reflecting on the celebration, Davido told Vogue: “We shut Miami down. We brought Lagos to Miami, and it was exactly what I had in mind.” Chioma described the night in one word: “Vibes.”
