The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) branch, has directed its members to suspend all academic activities in protest over unpaid salaries and arrears.

In a communiqué issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, and signed by the branch chairman, Dr. Boluwaji Oshodi, and secretary, Olusegun Taiwo, the union said the decision followed resolutions reached at its congress on Thursday, August 21.

ASUU said the strike became unavoidable after several appeals to the university management and Ondo State government to clear the backlog of salaries and arrears were ignored.

“By this memo, our members have been directed to withdraw their services from all academic activities in the university until all our outstanding salaries and arrears are paid,” the statement read.

While reiterating its commitment to the growth of the institution, the union insisted that the welfare of its members could not be compromised.
