Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the polling unit of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, in the ongoing Anambra State governorship election.
Obi, a former governor of the state, voted at Umudimakasi, Agulu Ward 2, Polling Unit 008, where residents and supporters had earlier gathered in anticipation of his arrival.
According to results announced at the unit, Soludo’s APGA secured victory over the Labour Party and other contenders.

INEC reports indicate that over 90 percent of the election results have been uploaded to its result viewing portal, IReV.
Meanwhile, some candidates have raised concerns over alleged irregularities. APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu and AAC’s Chioma Ifemeludike accused political opponents of vote buying, describing the act as a threat to democracy.
Governor Soludo, who cast his vote in Isuofia alongside his wife, Nonye, also alleged incidents of vote buying by a rival political party at his polling unit.
In another development, a 96-year-old woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Onike, broke down in tears after being prevented from voting at her usual polling unit in Agulu Ward 8, Anaocha LGA, due to an invalid voter card.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that 2,802,790 registered voters were eligible to participate in the election across 5,718 polling units, with more than 24,000 ad hoc staff deployed for the exercise.
The 2025 Anambra governorship election features 16 candidates, including incumbent Governor Soludo (APGA), Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC), George Moghalu (Labour Party), Jude Ezenwafor (PDP), and Chioma Ifemeludike (AAC), among others.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, who is overseeing his first major election since assuming office in October, expressed confidence in the process and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparency.
As vote counting continues, early trends indicate APGA maintaining a strong lead in several local government areas.
