The Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Alhaji Munnir Haidara, has alleged that the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Sadiq Chiroma, engaged in anti-party activities long before officially defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Sunday shortly after Chiroma joined the APC, Haidara claimed the former PDP chairman had been undermining the party during and after the last state assembly bye-election.
He alleged that Chiroma held secret meetings with APC stakeholders across the state and leaked confidential PDP strategies ahead of the election. According to him, these actions violated party rules and raised concerns among PDP members about his loyalty.
Haidara further linked the earlier defection of the PDP’s state assembly candidate in the bye-election, Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, to Chiroma’s alleged influence and political maneuvering.
Despite the development, the council chairman said the PDP in Kaura-Namoda remains committed to supporting Governor Dauda Lawal for what he described as the governor’s people-focused projects in the area. He urged residents to continue backing efforts aimed at improving development in the local government.
Haidara concluded by wishing Chiroma well in his new political journey but remarked that the former chairman would “reap what he sowed” for allegedly working against the PDP.
