Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, stumbled and fell while being received at a ceremonial parade in Turkey, a video obtained by Reporters shows. The footage captures the President losing his footing while exchanging pleasantries with officials and being helped back to his feet by several men.
The incident occurred as Tinubu walked alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. No official statement has been issued regarding the stumble. Tinubu’s health has been a topic of public discussion in recent weeks.
On Monday, the State House confirmed that President Tinubu arrived in Ankara, Turkey, on a state visit. His aircraft reportedly landed at Ankara Esenboğa Airport at 9:03 p.m. local time, where he was received by a Turkish government delegation led by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, alongside Nigerian Embassy officials including Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, other Nigerian officials who welcomed Tinubu at the hotel included Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, Finance Minister Wale Edun, Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), and other senior ministers and security officials.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Turkey and explore new areas of cooperation. President Tinubu is expected to hold discussions with President Erdoğan, including the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and other official engagements.
The video of the stumble has already circulated widely, drawing attention to the President’s public appearances during the ongoing diplomatic visit.
