Yoruba Nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria and is en route to the Olubadan Palace in Ibadan, SaharaReporters reports.
Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, said the activist is no longer being pursued by Nigerian authorities, following what he described as sustained royal interventions, political goodwill, and advocacy by Yoruba leaders at home and abroad.
“As I speak, Chief Sunday Adeyemo is on his way to the Olubadan Palace and should arrive shortly. He resides in Benin Republic and is returning to meet his royal father, the Olubadan, by the special grace of God,” Koiki said.
Igboho fled Nigeria in 2021 after the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his residence in Ibadan, an operation that left several of his associates dead or arrested. He was later detained in Benin Republic while attempting to travel to Germany and remained in exile amid legal and diplomatic proceedings.
His visit to the Olubadan Palace is expected to be his first major public engagement since his exile and is seen as part of formal steps marking his reintegration into Nigeria.
