Elon Musk, the new owner and CEO of Twitter, has sarcastically shaded those who have repeatedly asked him whether former US President Donald Trump will return to Twitter.

Musk, who took over Twitter three days ago and fired the majority of its top executives, said in a tweet on Monday night (October 31st),

“If I had a dollar for every time someone asks me if Trump is returning to this platform, Twitter would be minting money.”

Since Musk’s takeover, many Twitter users and the media have speculated about the former US President’s return to the platform.

Trump, whose Twitter account was permanently suspended in January 2021, was accused of inciting violence through his tweets in the aftermath of the Capitol Hill riots and was labeled a “risk.”

“After close review of recent tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter Incorporated said at the time.

Following Musk’s takeover of the social media platform, Trump wrote on his own ‘Truth Social’ platform;

“I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by radical left lunatics and maniacs who truly hate our country.”

Elon Musk said in a tweet on Friday, October 28th, that he would create a “council” to decide whether people who have been banned from the platform should be allowed back in, which sparked reactions on the social media platform.
