SERAP Tells Buhari To Declare Assets.

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) to recommit to transparency, show leadership, and make his assets publicly available at the conclusion of his term in office. He should also encourage other members of his administration to do the same.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, should “take immediate steps to expeditiously, diligently, effectively, and fairly prosecute all outstanding high-profile corruption cases currently being handled by his office,” SERAP further urged him to direct.
Kolawole Oluwadare, the deputy director of SERAP, wrote an open letter on Saturday, October 1, 2022, in which the organization claimed that, in contrast to Buhari’s Independence Day speech, “grand corruption has continued to deny millions of Nigerians equal opportunities.”
According to SERAP, promoting transparency, combating corruption, and ensuring full and effective respect for the rule of law “would send a strong signal of your commitment to leaving a legacy of transparency and accountability.”
