Police Operatives in Kebbi State have arrested three brothers for allegedly beating to death a neighbor named Abbas Abubakar, after accusing him of stealing their motorcycle in Birnin Kebbi town.
According to the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the suspects, Abubakar Ahmed, Ubaidu Ahmed, and Halilu Ahmed, visited the house of one Sanusi Abubakar, who has been identified as the victim’s older brother, and demanded to see his younger brother Abbas, also known as Zabi, because they believed Abbas had stolen their motorcycle, a Haojue Roba-Roba.
When Abbas Abubakar was summoned, the suspects took him to their home, tied him up with a rope, and beat him until he was unconscious.
The statement further explained;
“On the same date at about 1430hrs, the suspects took the said Abbas Abubakar in their motor vehicle to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, where they were instantly arrested and rushed Abbas Abubakar to Sir Yahaya memorial hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
In the light of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi state Command, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora directed the DPO to immediately transfer the case to SCID, Birnin Kebbi for thorough investigation with a view to unravel the circumstances surrounding the dastard act.”
This unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, September 19, 2022.
