Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Conakry, Guinea’s capital, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President-elect Mamady Doumbouya.
The arrival was confirmed in a statement on Friday by Mr Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice-President.
According to Nkwocha, Shettima was received by senior Guinean government officials and members of the Nigerian diplomatic corps ahead of the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Saturday at the GLC Stadium in Nongo.
He said Doumbouya’s inauguration follows his victory in the December 2025 general elections and marks the formal conclusion of Guinea’s four-year military transition.
Nkwocha noted that the vice-president’s presence at the event underscores Nigeria’s leadership role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its commitment to the restoration of constitutional order across the sub-region.
He added that under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, Nigeria continues to position itself as a stabilising force in West Africa, advocating democratic governance as a foundation for regional development.
The presidential aide further stated that the visit is also aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation between Nigeria and Guinea. (NAN)
