The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed caretaker committees to oversee party affairs in Delta, Enugu, Imo, Rivers, and Osun states. The National Working Committee (NWC) made the appointments on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), according to a notice signed by National Organising Secretary Theophilus Dakas Shan.
The move aims to ensure proper administration and continuity of party structures at the state level. The committees are empowered to manage daily party operations and will serve for a maximum of 90 days or until new executive committees are elected. Members are required to adhere strictly to the PDP Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Committee leadership in the states includes Prof. Sylvester Monye as Delta chairman with Dr. Michael Tidi as secretary; Steve Oruruo and Martin Ugwuamadieze for Enugu; Chief John Okere and Magnus Amadi for Imo; Ogbam Ojimah and Dr. Field Nkor for Rivers; and Tunde Tijani and Bamidele Seyi-Abiola for Osun.
The appointments place the affected state chapters under interim leadership as the PDP works toward reconstituting its elected structures in the five states.
