The Senate has reaffirmed that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central remains under suspension and will not be allowed to resume legislative duties until the National Assembly reconvenes after its two-month recess.
This was confirmed by the Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired on Tuesday, shortly after the lawmaker was denied entry into the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 for allegedly breaching Senate rules following a controversial altercation over seating arrangements. The clash involved Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual misconduct—an allegation the Senate President has since denied.
Despite a recent ruling by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator cited as legal backing for her attempted return, she was barred from participating in Senate proceedings on July 22, 2025.
Adaramodu maintained that the suspension remains in effect until further deliberation after the Senate resumes.
