Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has celebrated the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, announcing a 50 percent reduction in fares to mark the milestone.
In a statement on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu said the Blue Line has transported over five million passengers safely in the past two years without any recorded accidents. He noted that trains now run every 10 minutes, completing more than 90 trips daily.
According to the governor, the rail system has significantly eased commuting in the state, cutting down travel time and making journeys faster and more convenient.
“This project belongs to all of us, and it is your belief in a greater Lagos that makes progress possible,” Sanwo-Olu said, while thanking Lagos residents for their trust and support.
The governor added that the fare discount would apply on Thursday, September 4, 2025, encouraging more residents to ride the Blue Line.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving public transportation, stressing that the Blue Line was part of a broader vision to build a safer, faster, and more efficient Lagos.
