The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members at Cameron/Onesubsea Offshore Systems Nigeria Ltd to begin an indefinite strike from 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
The union said the action followed the company’s refusal to engage in “good-faith negotiations” over the 2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
In a directive signed by the Assistant General Secretary, Port Harcourt Zone, Sere Nwikiabeh, PENGASSAN accused management of ignoring all genuine efforts to resolve outstanding labour issues.
“We have exhausted all avenues of negotiation and dialogue, and it has become clear that the management is not willing to engage with us in good faith. In light of this, we have decided to take a more decisive action to protect and defend our members’ rights,” the statement read.
The directive instructed members at the company’s branch to comply fully with the strike until their demands are met. Copies of the notice were sent to the PENGASSAN national leadership, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Nigerian Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), the Rivers State Police Command, and the Department of State Services (DSS).
PENGASSAN said it remains committed to securing improved working conditions and fair treatment for its members, urging total compliance with the strike directive.
