Police Probe Discovery of Decomposed Corpse at National Assembly

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into the discovery of a decomposed body inside a vehicle at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

In a statement on Sunday, Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the incident was reported on September 7, 2025, around 9:00 a.m. A distress call indicated that an unidentified man, suspected to be a labourer, was found lifeless within the complex.

According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer of the National Assembly Division led a team to the scene and discovered the corpse inside a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF. The body was later evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where doctors confirmed it was in an advanced state of decomposition.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, has ordered a discreet investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Command assured the public that updates will be provided as the inquiry continues.
