The Osun State Government has rolled out Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at improving digital access for residents, students, businesses, and communities.
The initiative, introduced by the Office of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, was unveiled on Monday by Governor Ademola Adeleke, who described it as a major step toward bridging the digital divide. “Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” he said.
Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, Azeez Badmus, said the state plans to expand the service and integrate more government services and digital tools.
The free Wi-Fi is currently available at selected locations including the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.
According to Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the project will benefit multiple sectors by supporting online learning, job applications, business growth, telemedicine, agricultural updates, and improved community safety through emergency response systems.
The state government said the service will be extended to more locations in the coming months to boost education, healthcare, employment, and innovation. Residents can access further details at osunstate.gov.ng.
