The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reported that its officers tracked down and shot a member of a suspected kidnapping gang, at Easy Gate Farm, near Abanla Ogunmakin Road, in Ibadan, Oyo State, while others managed to flee.

The incident which took place yesterday, September 29, happened around 10:30 a.m.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oyindamola Okuneye, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Adaralewa Michael, eight suspected kidnappers entered the farm to kidnap the owner, who is a foreigner.

They were, however, defeated by the brave Corps officers in a gunfight in which one of them(the kidnapper) was killed and others managed to flee with varying degrees of bullet wounds.

Recall the alleged kidnappers went to the same farm on June 1, 2022, in an attempt to abduct someone. During that attempt, one of the NSCDC officers was shot during a gunfight before the retaliation attack on September 28, 2022.

Commandant Adaralewa Michael used the medium to urge state residents to work with all security personnel by providing them with accurate information about what is happening in their jurisdiction.

He impressed on residents the need to alert the NSCDC or its sister agencies whenever they suspect anyone with a gunshot wound in order to apprehend other members of the kidnapped gang who managed to escape during the raid.

“We are created to protect you, if you see something, please say something”, Michael said.
