The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of personnel and the implementation of comprehensive security measures ahead of the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the Commandant-General, strategic deployments have been carried out in Daura—Buhari’s hometown—as well as at the Umar Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina, the palaces of the Emirs of Katsina and Daura, and other sensitive locations across the state.
The Commandant emphasized operational strategies such as intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and collaboration with other security agencies to ensure safety before, during, and after the burial.
Special forces, departments, and units within the Corps have also been detailed to provide adequate security coverage across all 34 local government areas of the state, with both covert and overt personnel tasked with protecting government facilities at local, state, and federal levels.
He urged deployed personnel to maintain high levels of professionalism and to work in synergy with sister agencies to ensure a peaceful and secure environment throughout the mourning period.
