The Nigerian Army has arrested 27 suspected illegal miners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neutralised three terrorists during nationwide operations over the past 24 hours.
A military source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that troops of the 7 Guards Battalion, under Operation MESA, raided an illegal mining site in Iddah, Bwari Area Council, seizing a dane gun, four motorcycles, and assorted mining equipment, while dismantling the miners’ camps. Roadblocks were also established along the Bwari–Ushafa–Dutse axis.
The source added that coordinated military offensives across multiple theatres, including North-East operations under Hadin Kai and FANSAN YAMMA, led to the rescue of kidnapped victims and arrests of criminal suspects. In Plateau State, troops responded to a kidnapping incident at Rantya, evacuating a wounded gateman.
Elsewhere, troops restored order in Kaduna State following unrest in Mabushi village, arrested a suspected armed robber in Delta State under Operation Delta Safe, and apprehended two suspected illegal oil bunkers at Bonny Island, Rivers State.
The Army affirmed its commitment to denying terrorists and criminal elements freedom of action and ensuring nationwide safety.
