The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly killing his friend over a disagreement involving a $1,000 transaction.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed that the incident occurred on January 21, 2026, in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area. The suspect, identified as Mr. Oghenegare, is currently in police custody at the state command headquarters in Asaba. The deceased, Mr. Courage, was reportedly involved in the same internet fraud activities as the suspect.
Edafe explained that the dispute escalated when Oghenegare confronted Courage and struck him on the head during an argument. In a video statement, the suspect claimed that his childhood friend had excluded him from the transaction process, triggering the confrontation.
The police lamented the rising incidents of violent crimes in the state, often linked to temper issues, drug abuse, and conflicts that could otherwise be resolved peacefully.
