The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two women in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, reported missing in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

Police operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters carried out the arrests on the evening of Monday, January 26, 2026, following what the command described as “technologically driven information.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, identified the suspects as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday.

According to Ikenga, the suspects confessed during interrogation to their involvement in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the victim had been taken to Ghana.

Following the development, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a discreet and comprehensive investigation.

The police said the investigation would focus on determining the circumstances surrounding the girl’s movement out of the country and identifying other individuals who may have played roles in the incident.

The Anambra State Police Command assured members of the public that further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
