‎Liverpool have taken center stage in this summer’s transfer window, emerging as the Premier League’s biggest spenders with their total outlay now approaching the £300 million mark.

‎The Reds’ latest move — a £79 million deal agreed for French forward Hugo Ekitike — has pushed their total summer spending to a staggering £295.5 million.

‎This figure puts them more than £75 million ahead of Chelsea, who sit second in the spending chart.

‎What’s more striking is that Liverpool’s expenditure so far surpasses the combined spending of two of their closest rivals, Manchester City and Arsenal, who occupy the third and fourth spots respectively in this summer’s financial rankings.

‎Tottenham Hotspur are currently the fifth-biggest spenders with £110.7 million splashed on new recruits.

‎Just behind them — and perhaps the biggest surprise of the window — are newly-promoted Sunderland, whose aggressive transfer activity has seen them spend £107 million as they prepare for life back in the top flight.

‎Liverpool’s ambitious summer spree reflects a clear intent to rebuild and strengthen under manager Arne Slot, following a transitional phase after Jürgen Klopp’s departure. With key signings across multiple positions, the Merseyside club appear determined to challenge for major honours again.

‎Analysts say Liverpool’s aggressive recruitment could be a sign of shifting dynamics in the Premier League, with the traditional top spenders like Manchester City taking a more measured approach this window.

‎Still, with weeks remaining before the window shuts, the financial landscape could shift again — but for now, Liverpool sit firmly at the top of the Premier League spending table.
