Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a pan-Igbo organization, has stated that it is not under any obligation to support Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential candidate, rather it’s responsibility is to recognize those who have seen the vision of demanding justice and equity by endorsing an Igbo for the seat.
Chief Alex Ogbonnia, Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, stated on Sunday, September 25th,
“The president was a major agenda of Ohanaeze led by Prof.George Obiozor and everybody keyed into that philosophy and it has now become an ideology” (movement). So, when people embrace an ideology, all you have to do is congratulate them. It will be childish to start endorsing ourselves.”
“We have been thanking people like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Adebayo, Edwin Clark, the Sultan of Sokoto, and other people and organizations like Afenifere and Arewa for embracing our philosophy and endorsing Peter Obi, not Ohanaeze.
“Beginning to endorse yourself will be self-glorification.”
He also stated that no one should criticize Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma, his Ebonyi counterpart Dave Umahi, or former Abia Governor Senator Orji Kalu for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu because they are entitled to do so.
