Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a move to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, opening a fresh chapter in his career.
The 29-year-old forward has signed a one-year contract with the Glasgow giants, with an option to extend for a further season. His arrival comes just days after Sevilla terminated his contract on transfer deadline day, leaving him free to negotiate a new deal.
Iheanacho, who had been linked with clubs in Turkey, Mexico, and Spain — including Besiktas, Samsunspor, Pumas UNAM, and La Liga newcomers Real Oviedo — ultimately chose to reunite with former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park.
Despite the Premiership transfer window closing on Monday, Iheanacho’s free-agent status allowed Celtic to secure his services.
The Nigerian brings a wealth of experience to Rodgers’ side, having won silverware in England and represented his country on the biggest stages. At Leicester, he played a pivotal role under Rodgers, famously netting the winner in the 2021 FA Cup semi-final against Southampton before going on to lift the trophy.
His addition provides Celtic with more attacking depth and competition for places, as the club looks to maintain domestic dominance and make an impact in Europe.
Iheanacho began his professional career at Manchester City, winning the League Cup in 2016, before sealing a move to Leicester City in 2017. During his time at the King Power Stadium, he scored decisive goals in both league and cup competitions, helping the Foxes to FA Cup glory in 2021.
On the international scene, Iheanacho has earned more than 50 caps for Nigeria, further underlining his pedigree and potential value to Celtic.
