Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, announced on Wednesday, September 28 that the state was ready to participate in the National Population Commission’s April 2023 national census.
In his remarks at a stakeholders summit on the 2023 Population and Housing Census in Owerri, the state capital, the governor stated that a well-executed national census exercise would assist the Federal and State Governments in formulating and implementing policies that would benefit citizens.
Uzodimma stated that while the United Nations recommended that a national census be conducted every ten years, he praised the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for approving that the exercise be conducted ten years after the last one held on 2016.
