The Imo State Government has sealed a hotel and private mortuary allegedly connected to Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, a wanted kidnap kingpin, following a joint security operation that uncovered decomposed bodies in unhygienic conditions.

Led by Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, the inspection team stormed Umuhu Autonomous Community in Ngor-Okpala on Saturday, December 6, acting on credible intelligence linking Oparaugo to a network of kidnappers and violent criminals operating along the Owerri–Aba Expressway. The delegation also included the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist of Imo State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; the Chairman of Ngor-Okpala LGA, Hon. Chika Ibekwe; and local vigilante members.

During the operation, authorities discovered severely decomposed bodies at the mortuary, raising concerns about potential illegal activities, including organ-related crimes. Both the mortuary and hotel were immediately sealed by government order, while forensic experts documented and secured evidence. Oparaugo’s residence was also searched, with crucial exhibits recovered.

DSP Okoye Henry, Police Public Relations Officer, said the operation is part of an intensified crackdown on criminal networks terrorizing residents and motorists along the Owerri–Aba Expressway. He added that maximum security has been deployed along the route and urged anyone with information on Oparaugo’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call 0803 477 3600.

Oparaugo remains at large, and authorities have assured the public that all accomplices will be identified and brought to justice.
