Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has received her second Guinness World Record plaque, officially recognising her achievement for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Guinness World Records confirmed that Baci prepared 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a cookout held in Lagos in September, setting a new global record.
This marks her second Guinness World Record title, following her first in May 2023, when she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes in a marathon that captivated global audiences. With both titles, Baci becomes Nigeria’s first chef to hold multiple Guinness World Records.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Baci described her double achievement as a story of “faith, fire, and history.” She wrote, “Our plaques are finally here! Two records, two plaques, one story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.”
Baci added that the records celebrated Nigeria’s creativity and culinary excellence, crediting her partnership with Gino Foods for helping to create a project that “reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose.”
Quoting Isaiah 61:7, she said her success proved that “instead of shame, you will receive a double portion.”
The jollof rice cookout drew over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and influencers. In line with Guinness World Records’ verification standards, all portions of the dish were distributed to attendees and charitable organisations.
This new recognition further cements Baci’s reputation as a leading figure in African gastronomy and a global ambassador of Nigerian cuisine.
