Morgan Gibbs-White has returned to Nottingham Forest for pre-season training, despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future following interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The midfielder was always scheduled to report back today alongside Forest’s other international players, which explains his absence from the squad that faced Chesterfield in a pre-season friendly yesterday.
Gibbs-White remains under contract with Forest and is expected to continue preparing for the upcoming campaign unless a resolution is reached regarding Tottenham’s pursuit.
Forest are currently seeking legal advice and considering formal action after Spurs reportedly triggered the player’s £60 million release clause—an approach Forest believe may have been in breach of transfer regulations.
While it is unclear whether Forest can block the move outright, they are preparing to file a complaint with the Premier League, which is likely to delay any potential deal. Tottenham, however, remain optimistic about securing the 24-year-old’s signature.
Additionally, Forest suspect there has been a breach of confidentiality related to the details of the release clause. As a result, the club cut off all communication with Spurs last week.
