The annual August Inmates Football League took place at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Enugu, drawing excitement, celebration, and solidarity among inmates, officials, and dignitaries.

The event was hosted by the Chief Security Officer of the Custodial Centre, Mrs. Lolo Priscilla Chioma Oku, and featured lively football matches alongside cultural displays.
In his welcome address, the Governor of the Correctional Centre, Dr. Sunday Igwe, thanked attendees for gracing the occasion. He emphasized that the annual football league is aimed at promoting unity, discipline, and positive engagement among inmates.
Representing the Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, was the Deputy Chairman, Dr. Echezona Wilfred Ugwu. In his goodwill message, Dr. Ugwu commended the organizers for sustaining such a transformative initiative. He pledged a total cash donation of N350,000: N50,000 each for the best player, best goalkeeper, and best cultural dance group, and N200,000 to support the organizing committee.

Also present at the event was the Chief Protocol Officer to the Chairman of Enugu North, Hon. Chukwuebuka Festy Orji, among other dignitaries.
The event ended on a high note with a vote of thanks by Dr. Igwe, who expressed profound gratitude to the Enugu North Council Chairman for his unwavering support and commitment to rehabilitation through sports and cultural expression.
