Former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has reportedly passed away.
Although an official confirmation is still being awaited, Sahara Reporters claimed on Friday that the former governor died in a hospital in London.
When contacted, Obiano’s personal publicist, Tony Nezianya, told DAILY POST that he had no knowledge of the reported death.
“I can’t confirm to you; I’m not aware of such news,” he said.
Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeded Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate. Born on August 8, 1955, he hailed from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area.
The former governor is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N4 billion fraud.
More details shortly.
