President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles on their convincing 4–1 win over Gabon in Thursday’s FIFA World Cup qualifying Africa Playoff match, describing the performance as a strong display of Nigeria’s resilience and fighting spirit.

In a statement issued by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the team showed “courage, balance, and precision,” noting that football remains one of the country’s greatest symbols of unity and national pride.

Tinubu said the victory has boosted national morale and renewed confidence in Nigeria’s quest to secure a World Cup slot. He commended the players, coaching crew, and technical staff for their dedication, saying their commitment was instrumental to the team’s success.

He added that the performance reflects the depth of football talent in the country and the determination of the Super Eagles to reclaim their place among Africa’s top teams.

The President also acknowledged the passionate support of millions of Nigerians at home and abroad, stressing that their loyalty continues to inspire the national team, especially during crucial international fixtures.

Tinubu urged the squad to build on the momentum and remain focused as the qualifying campaign continues, saying each match is another opportunity to demonstrate discipline, character, and ambition.

“This is the true Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds. Do not stop until you secure qualification. Super Eagles, keep soaring. The nation stands with you,” he said.
