A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted permission for a top executive of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, Tigran Gambaryan, to receive medical treatment in an Abuja hospital. This ruling came after Gambaryan’s legal team filed an application seeking the court’s approval for him to access urgent medical care due to health concerns.

Tigran Gambaryan, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry and Binance’s former Head of Intelligence, is currently facing legal proceedings in Nigeria. Although the details of the charges against him have not been fully disclosed to the public, sources suggest that the case is related to regulatory compliance and financial dealings within the cryptocurrency sector.

Gambaryan’s legal team, during a recent hearing, submitted medical documents and reports to the court indicating that their client was experiencing serious health challenges that required immediate attention. They argued that delaying treatment could worsen his condition, urging the court to grant him access to a hospital in Abuja for proper care.

In his ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo acknowledged the urgency of Gambaryan’s medical needs and granted him permission to receive treatment at a designated hospital in Abuja. The court, however, placed certain conditions on the approval, requiring that Gambaryan’s movement be strictly monitored by security officials to ensure he remains within the hospital premises for the duration of his treatment.

The judge emphasized that the decision to allow medical care was based solely on humanitarian grounds and should not be seen as prejudicing the ongoing case against him. Gambaryan is expected to continue his treatment under supervision until he is declared fit to return to court for the continuation of the legal proceedings.

The court’s ruling is a relief for Gambaryan and his legal team, as they had expressed concern about his deteriorating health while in custody. The decision to allow him access to proper medical care underscores the importance of safeguarding the rights of defendants, even as they face legal challenges.

It is expected that Gambaryan’s medical treatment will be closely monitored, and once his condition improves, the court case will proceed. The details of the charges against the Binance executive and the potential outcomes of the case remain matters of significant interest, especially within the cryptocurrency community, which has been under increasing scrutiny from financial regulators globally. As the case unfolds, all eyes will be on the next court session to determine how the legal proceedings will impact both Gambaryan and Binance’s operations in Nigeria.
