Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in what appears to be another major blow to the embattled opposition party.

His resignation comes barely 24 hours after Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), further deepening internal cracks within the opposition bloc.

Diri’s exit adds to the growing list of high-profile defections that have intensified political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
