The Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) is making moves to woo former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Dungurawa claimed the ruling party sees Kwankwaso as the only political figure with the popularity and mass support capable of helping it remain in power beyond 2027.

He described the APC as “weak, confused and directionless,” alleging that the party has failed Nigerians and is now seeking Kwankwaso as a “better option.”

According to him, “The APC believes Kwankwaso is the only person with the popularity and support base that can help them win the next election. They are the ones going around saying they are talking to him.”

Dungurawa said insecurity and hardship had worsened under the current administration, insisting that Kano remains the safest state despite encroachment by bandits in border communities.

He stated that while Kwankwaso is committed to national development, any consideration of joining the APC would depend on the ruling party’s willingness to “amend its ways” and govern properly.

The NNPP chairman also dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as “an empty house.”
