Midwestern Oil and Gas, an independent Nigerian oil and gas exploration and production company, has named Elozino Olaniyan as its first female Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 December 2025.
The company described the appointment as a historic milestone, reflecting its commitment to inclusive leadership, strong governance, and national energy development. Olaniyan brings over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, with expertise in upstream operations, corporate strategy, and stakeholder engagement. She previously served as General Manager for Safety & Environment at Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, leading reforms in operational efficiency and environmental management.
Midwestern said the leadership transition aims to strengthen governance, ensure operational excellence, and enhance local content through talent development and strategic partnerships.
Reacting to her appointment, Olaniyan said: “I am honoured to lead Midwestern at this pivotal stage. Our focus will be on operational discipline, transparency, and sustainable growth that benefits all stakeholders.”
Board Chairman Emeka Okwuosa described Olaniyan as “technically grounded, strategically minded, and deeply committed to sustainability and people,” expressing confidence in her ability to lead the company into its next phase of growth.
