The FCT Police Command has denied the arrest of Aminu Mohammed, a 500-level student at the Federal University of Dutse in Jigawa state.
According to reports, Muhammad was detained for allegedly mocking Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, in a tweet.
The tweet, written in Hausa and accompanied by a photo of the first lady, translates to “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full.”
Shortly after the tweet, Muhammad was reported arrested by DSS operatives, sparking outrage on social media.
Vanguard reported that when they called DSP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command’s public relations officer, about the situation, she claimed not to be aware of the student’s detention by the Police Command.
