Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, stated that Nigerians will not vote for Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and other presidential candidates in 2023 because the presidential candidates and their parties made several promises to Nigerians that have yet to be fulfilled.

Obi stated this in an interview on Monday, October 24th.

When asked how he intends to deliver on his campaign promises, especially given that all of the other presidential candidates have made similar promises, Obi said the presidential candidates’ historical antecedents should be key in determining who would fulfill his campaign promises.

“We’re all saying the same thing,” he said, “but the difference is – who can we trust?” This election is all about faith. We’re all promising the same thing, but can we examine the precedents? Things they have previously promised and how they have delivered or attempted to deliver them.

“Who among these people has the character, competence, capacity, and commitment to at least do what he says?” That is what sets us apart.

“In the past, we’ve made promises. We’ve been promised that the dollar will be one-to-one. Nobody is saying anything now that we are nearly 800 to one.

“We don’t need all of these fanciful, fair, and attractive manifestos or documents.” Allow people to come and talk. You mentioned Britain because she (Truss) couldn’t deliver on what she promised, so she packed her suitcase and left.”

Obi also responded to a question about the aggressive behavior of some of his social media followers.

He stated that his supporters and proponents of the ‘Obidient’ movement are mostly Nigerians who are outraged by the country’s sorry state and thus demand change.

Obi, on the other hand, noted that some of the uncultured social media behavior by the purported followers has come from opposing camps who frequently disguise themselves as his followers to commit indecency.

“I have answered this several times,” he said. One, there is infiltration by opponents, and there are angry supporters of mine. I’ve faithfully served others. I’ve never cursed or yelled at anyone. You cannot go around saying that because your son yells at people, that is you. I’m telling them to please, but some of them are irritated. Some of them have been out of school for the past ten years, unable to find work. You have no control over their rage. “All I have is an appeal.”
