Following the recent mass defection in the state, the People’s Democratic Party has stated that it intends to take over Gombe State from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections.

According to Adam Isa, Chairman of the Gombe PDP Progressives League, the current wave of defections from the APC to the PDP under Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is an indication that the PDP will take over the state in 2023.

Isa also praised the governor’s current Adviser on Religious Affairs, Auwal Abdullahi, who recently resigned his position and joined the PDP, in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, November 1st.

“The Governor’s current Adviser has resigned as a result of the wind of defection blowing in Gombe State.”

“The wind of defection blowing in Gombe State has led to the resignation of the Governor’s current Adviser on Religious Affairs, Sheik Dr. Auwal Abdullahi (Gafakan Akko),” he said.

“Fresh reports from the state have revealed that massive resignations in the government are quietly ongoing, to the shock of the Governor, who was said to have frantically reached out to the ruling party leadership to act quickly in order to slow down the gale defections, especially in the ruling party structure,” the PDP chieftain added.

He attributed the “shift in alliances” to the mobilization efforts of the PDP Governorship candidate in the state, Hon Jibrin Barde, and then declared that the PDP is set to take over Gombe in the upcoming election.
